Indian Ambassador gifts books to University of Pardubice and also meets Indian Students

H.E. Mrs. Narinder Chauhan, Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Czech Republic, in a function organized by the University of Pardubice on 24 April, 2019,           interacted with Prof. Jiří Málek, Rector and met Indian students studying in the University and gifted 100 books for setting up of the India section at the library of the University.
2.         The Rector thanked the Indian Ambassador for the gesture and noted that the books on diverse topics on India will be used and offered to readers in the University Library and it will significantly help the students and other readers equally to learn and broaden the knowledge about India and diverse dimensions of its life and culture.                The books topics included politics, economics, Yoga, history, culture, architecture, fine arts, cuisine, sports etc. Ambassador remarked that these books will help in enriching the students’ knowledge about different facets of India as a country.  
3.         It is mentioned that during the State visit of H.E. Mr. Ram Nath Kovind, President of the Republic of India to the Czech Republic in September, 2018, both H.E. Mr. Miloš Zeman, President of the Czech Republic and President of India welcomed the higher education partnerships between the universities of the two countries and appreciated the long Czech tradition of students in Indology. They welcomed the growing popularity of yoga in the Czech Republic.
4.         Ambassador took the opportunity to convey information about the forthcoming India related events including Bapu@150: (a) Release of Commemorative postage stamp of Mahatma Gandhi by Czech Post on 26 June; (b) Planting of 150 trees on World Environment Day, 5 June; (c) International Day of Yoga on 21 June. Ambassador also invited the University as natural partner in commemorating the World Environment Day on 5 June, 2019 which would be marked by planting 150 trees in the Czech Republic in dedication to the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
