About Us Important Information on Passports

  • The applicant must submit the application in person for identification. In case of minor children, presence of both parents along with the child would be required.

  • Applicants are advised to ensure that their application in the prescribed format is complete in all respects; that all columns are correctly and legibly filled up and no column is left blank or unfilled or vaguely filled with a dash, tick, etc. All signatures in the application should be with ballpoint pen. In case if someone has registered wrong data, he/she has to register again with the correct details and get the print outs with fresh File numbers.

  • Please keep in mind that Passport is made on the basis of entries made by an applicant in the online form. Therefore, ensure that all entries in the online, as well as printed application form, are correct.

  • It is an offence under the Passport Act 1967 to furnish false information in the application. Passport facilities could be denied on grounds of suppression of material information, submission of incorrect particulars, willful damage/loss of passport or for unauthorized change/tampering. The Passport can be impounded or revoked for violation of one or more of the provisions of the Passport Act.

  • In accordance with guidelines of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the Government of India has introduced a new system of Machine Readable Passports.

  • Under the new system, all Indian passports will be issued at a central issuing office in New Delhi. Therefore it will take about four weeks for issue of a printed passport, i.e. if everything is found to be in order in respect of the application form, photo, etc., by the authorities in India.

  • In cases where the applicant’s continuous residence period in Czech Republic is less than 5 years, the procedure time may take longer since it involves fresh police verification in India. However, this does not apply to minor applicants.

  • Applicants are advised to track the status of the passport online through the same web-link where application form was filled. When the online status is show as ‘Passport received in the Embassy / Passport may be collected from the Embassy’, the applicant may come and collect the passport from the Embassy on any working day between 1600 and 1700 hrs. There is no express or tatkaal service for issuance of the passport.

  • An applicant has the option to apply for an ordinary passport booklet of 36 pages or a Jumbo passport booklet of 60 pages of ten-year validity.

  • A separate passport must be obtained by every individual. A child’s name can no longer be endorsed on a parent’s passport. Minors are issued passports with validity of 5 years or up to attaining 18 years, whichever is earlier.

  • Those Indian citizens acquiring citizenship/passport of another country should immediately surrender their Indian Passport to the Indian Embassy.
